MODULE 103 ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY & PATHOLOGY

with this Unit Standard are capable of:

MODULE 104 COUNSELLING IN A STRUCTURED ENVIRONMENT

- Describing the functions and limits of the lay counsellor
- Setting up a structured environment conducive to counselling
- Describing and applying the requirements of lay counselling
- Applying the principles and processes of lay counselling in a structured environment

MODULE 105 DESCRIBE AND APPLY CHRISTIAN COUNSELLING
SKILLS – training in pastoral counselling skills
Level 4, 10 credits
This unit standard is useful to learners who wish to gain basic competence in pastoral care as it is applied in congregational
context.
- Learners credited with this unit standard are able to:
- Explain the basic Biblical and doctrinal practice that underlie good
practice in pastoral care
- Show an emphatic understanding of human nature in relation to people’s
needs
- Apply pastoral care principles to a variety of basic situations of human
need within church and community contexts.
The scope of both Testaments of the Bible apply to this unit standard
Pastoral care includes aspects of illness and bereavement, marriage and family life, and abuse.
INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN APPLIED KINESIOLOGY (Level 1)
(Three day class attendance compulsory. Limited groups)
The
objective of kinesiology is to determine health imbalances in the body’s organs and glands by identifying weaknesses
in specific muscles. By stimulating these key muscles, an applied kinesiologist
can diagnose and resolve a variety of health problems. At the end of this course
a learner will be able to employ a simple strength resistance test on specific indicator muscles in order to determine organ
function. This technique can also be of great value to counsellors in doing body
work (which is often more effective than “talk therapy”) by releasing of negative emotional energy in the body.
CERTIFICATE IN IRIDOLOGY & SCLEROLOGY (Class attendance compulsory)
Iridology
provides a screening method to enable the practitioner to make meaningful assessments of the health status of the human body. The course will introduce you the basics
of iris diagnosis including constitutional types, pupil tonus and iris and sclera
signs. A certificate of attendance will be awarded at the end of the seminar.
CERTIFICATE IN HERBOLOGY. The
study of medicinal plants is at the heart of complementary medicine. Learn
about the pharmacological working of herbal remedies, the combination of useful herbs for treatment of various ailments, the
preparation of herbal remedies and possible interactions with medicinal drugs. A certificate of attendance is awarded at the
end of the course.
RECOGNITION
OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
Candidates
who have already completed informal courses in corresponding subjects may apply for recognition of their competence. This is known as the process of RPL and involves a compilation of a portfolio of evidence. Fee R800 per RPL for 2 hour session. It
affords SETA accreditation and registration on the Learner Data Base.
